I have a website that is available now online. But when I did a Google search, I couldn’t find my site. How can I get my site to be found on other search engines? I did not even see my site show up on yahoo search.

Build inbound links to your website.
Most of the directories online charge a one time fee to review your site and add it to their index. Here are three of my favorites:

http://www.joeant.com
The more inbound links to your site, the better you will rank
with Yahoo / Google / MSN.
Also work on your meta tags. Here is an
article on how they work: http://www.richkahmer.com/meta-tags.html
Submit the site

You can use the link suggested, most search engines have submission links. If you mean you didnt see your site, your site is probably 10000 or more pages away from the top!
Submit your site to google: http://www.google.com/addurl/
and msn: submitit.bcentral.com/msnsubmit.htm
just keep tring, that’s happened to me before but then when i kept tring & it worked
One of many tricks is to write some meta-data into your page, the kind of stuff that is often searched for; Alternatively, you can add in LOTS of info about your Page that has common search elements listed, that will push your page up the hit list.
This provides some info: http://www.barnard.edu/resnet/webpublishing/searchengines.html
you might have to put tags in your html of your webpage so that it can be found in searches –
for instance, in the heading of your page, <HEAD>, you put:
<META name="Description" content="Description of your site">
or
<META name="keywords" content="keywords describing your site">
